Plant Pathology Research Assistant – Davis                         Date: May 28, 2008

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Laboratory activities; media preparation, maintenance and storage of plant pathogens,  performing biochemical analyses (ELISA,PCR), seed health testing, ordering lab supplies; general lab upkeep and maintenance.

• Greenhouse activities; assistance with test plantings, inoculations, and evaluations along with plant upkeep and maintenance.

• Field activities – scouting for diseases, assist with all pathology related field trials

Qualifications:

• BS degree in plant related science is required.
• Experience with plant pathology, microbiology and molecular biology desirable
• Spanish language skills desirable

Skills required:

• Detail oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with MS Word/Excel/Access.
• Willing to take initiative and able to work independently.
• Must be able to multitask, with strong problem solving abilities.
• Some travel required.
